SS13 Fashion Trends: Monochrome
I freakin’ love checking out the new trend reports and I have spied a classic in SS13’s fashion trends: monochrome.
Monochrome is one of those totally classic, simple chic looks. It’s a look I love but find a bit of a challenge. It should be easy, right? Black and white and boom, you’re done! However, I’ve always been a colour fan, so the idea of going totally retro film is a bit daunting.
Black and white is such a statement look and for a completely monochrome look your accessories should match but if you do want to inject some colour, a bold lipstick or colour block bag would really make your look pop.
Monochrome featured heavily on the SS13 catwalks in Paris which isn’t a surprise, French fashion is all about classic chic. What I enjoy most about the monochrome trend is its versatility. It’s unlikely to require a lot of investment because you can simply employ your black and white classics already in your wardrobe. You can go for block monochromes and not worry about things not working together. Or you can try out one of the numerous monochrome patterns and mix and match with block pieces. Stripes, dogstooth and spots are all great ways to work monochrome.
With celebs like Kristen Stewart, Taylor Swift and Anna Friel already rocking the look, we think monochrome is going to be huge for spring/summer 2013. Take a look at some of our favourite monochrome looks from around the high street…
