Amy Childs Reveals The A-Lister Who Needs An Essex Makeover
Last month we went and checked out the gorgeous Amy Childs FOURTH SS13 collection. Afterwards we got to sit down with the lady herself and chat about all things fashion, gossip and the Hollywood celeb who needs an Amy Childs makeover….
This is your fourth collection now and it’s the best one yet. Where do you get your inspiration from?
Do you know what I’ve always wanted to bring out my own collection. When I did TOWIE everybody was ringing me or tweeting me going ‘oh my god Amy I love you and I love what you’re wearing and your dress sense’. In the end I had to really think from a business point of view and bring out my own collection.
It was a lot of hard work and people were asking me to be the face of this company and that company, however, I thought oh my god, I need to bring out my own range. It was a lot of hard work and me and my designer sat down and thought about it. I said I want really pretty dresses and it was back and forward, but it worked out amazing. It’s my fourth collection now – absolutely mental!
Who would you love to be seen wearing your range celeb wise?
I’d absolutely love Victoria Beckham. I love her style, and you know she likes her pretty dresses as well.
It’s a very sophisticated, classy range. Can all bodyshapes from the super-skinny to curvy wear your designs?
Oh definitely, I think even if you’re smaller the dresses look sophisticated over the knee. My dresses work for everybody and if you’re slightly bigger, you can wear a peplum style to hide your hips or your belly. Some people have bigger arms, so you can wear a cap sleeve to make you look thinner. Not only do I design dresses for me, I work with every single age, height and all sizes – everybody is loving it.
We’ve got the lace detail which is so classy and we’ve got really pretty necklines to show off boobs and cleavage. If you haven’t got any boobs you could wear a high neck, you know it’s brilliant.
Have any of the TOWIE ladies been spotted in your range?
Sam Faiers was papped in my dress a little while ago. I think she wore the Bridget dress in red. Chloe wore a long lace dress from my range, but they all have their own collections, which makes it hard for them to get papped in other ones, but I totally agree with that.
What trends inspired you this season?
Do you know what, when I was designing my SS13 collection pastel and bright colours were so in. White and grey was also all over the catwalks this year and I’ve got a dress called Jemima, which fits the trend perfectly.
Who would you most like to give an Amy Childs makeover to if you had the choice?
People asked me this earlier, I would say Kelly Osbourne. However, she’s looking brilliant lately so it’s not a dig, but maybe make her a bit more glamorous. The other day she had her hair in a bun, but if she had an Essex make-over with hair extensions and a real pretty dress – lovely!
We miss you on TOWIE and it’s not the same without you. Do you still watch it and would you ever make a return?
I’ve always said never say never. Maybe in 10 years time we could all get back together, but at the minute I’m working on some different projects, my clothing line is taking over. It’s still a great show and I absolutely love it, but at this moment in time no. You never know!
What have you got in store for your fans this year?
I’m working on my AW13 collection at the moment. I know we’re not in autumn/winter, but you’ve always got to work six months in advance. I shall still be working in my boutique in Brentwood and I’ve brought out my rollers and Amy Childs lashes as well.
When are we next going to see you on our TV screens cracking us up and talking about vajazzling?
I’m going to be on the TV soon, but I can’t say what it is yet so watch this space!
