Sad news for One Direction fans everywhere as Teen heart-throb Harry Styles, from One Direction, has been snapped whilst DJ-ing at a London nightclub, causing music industry insiders to speculate that he is trying out new careers in preparation for the world-famous boy band to split up.

Harry, 19, was spotted behind the decks at a London Fashion Week after-party held by jewellery designer Dominic Jones at The Box Nightclub in Soho – one of the capital’s trendiest venues, which has previously attracted celebrities like Prince Harry, Rhianna and Keira Knightley.

He was being shown the ropes by Chelsea Leyland, one of the fashion world’s favourite DJs, and looked to be thoroughly enjoying the challenge as he lined up tracks by Missy Elliott and other hip-hop artists, much to the delight of the party’s guests.

Harry has a reputation for enjoying a good night out – he hit the headlines two days earlier, when he shocked fans dining at a Leeds branch of Nando’s by turning up for a meal, before heading off to a private party in one of the halls of residence at the city’s University. For some, his DJ-ing slot in London, will just be seen as another example of his passion for partying.

Harry packs his bags and is leaving one direction?

Rumours about issues within One Direction have been rife in recent weeks. According to the industry friends. Harry and fellow band-member Zayn Malik, have both been told to tone down their behaviour following media attention relating to their love lives.

Harry has been linked to a number of women, including Taylor Swift, who he split up with in January after a two month relationship, whilst Zayn caused a media storm when it was alleged that he had cheated on his girlfriend, Little Mix’s Perrie Edwards, with a 21-year old Australian waitress, something that he has since strongly denied.

Following the revelations about Zayn’s allegedly turbulent love life, further reports emerged, suggesting that he was finding it difficult to deal with his celebrity status and may be planning to leave the band.

However, One Direction’s PR firm quickly responded, saying that the rumours had no truth to them.
A third band member, Niall Horan, also made it into the papers recently, when it was reported that he had ended a four month relationship with his girlfriend, Amy Green, because he was too busy to spend time with her.

Not only do these reports suggest that One Direction’s record label – Syco, owned by Simon Cowell – and management may be desperately trying to keep the reins on their charges, they also eerily echo the experiences of other bands which have fallen apart in the past.

Formed in the glare of publicity during the 2011 series of the X-Factor, the band has rarely been out of the limelight during the past two years and this, together with the punishing schedules that bands like 1D have to follow, is likely to take its toll on the lads.

The current ITV show ‘The Big Reunion’, in which six former darlings of the pop world – 5ive, 911, Atomic Kitten, B*Witched, Liberty X and Honeyz – reform in order to perform at a gig at the Hammersmith Odeon, has featured interviews in which members of these bands talk about the pressure put on them at the height of their success.

Along with tales of in-band squabbling, the show has also suggested that some band members felt that they were, at times, pushed to breaking point by the demands of record labels and management companies.

Is Harry leaving One Direction

Music industry insider’s suggestions that Harry Styles could have been rehearsing for a new career with his DJ-ing appearance may be tongue in cheek, but it’s a fair assumption that 1D will eventually come to an end.

Former Westlife member Brian McFadden recently told Real Radio Yorkshire that he thought Harry was ‘too chilled’ to leave first and that he believed fellow Irishman Niall Horan would be the first to go.

However, at the moment, One Direction fans have plenty to look forward to.

The band has just released a new single, a mash-up of Blondie’s ‘One Way or Another’ and The Undertones’ ‘Teenage Kicks’, for Comic Relief, the video for which features David Cameron. They are also about to embark upon a 117 date world tour.

The most likely explanation for Harry’s debut performance as a DJ is simply that he fancied trying his hand at something different for an evening.

However, if he does decide to take it up full-time when 1D eventually split, he’s sure to have plenty of fans turning up to watch him.
