How to understand "smart casual"

Close your eyes and imagine Jude Law. Well, it's almost as simple as that! He is the epitome of the men's smart casual look and has had it mastered for some time.
He does not wear bright colour's but sticks to sophisticated browns, grey's, black and white. He will sometimes add a splash of green but never anything bold. Think classic mens attire with a 2010 twist.
The key to this look is to accessories. This takes you from looking old before your time and into the world of smart casual fashion for men. In today's world it is socially acceptable for a man to don a sophisticated scarf (the Collezione Tassel Trim Dot Scarf, £19.50 from Marks and Spencer), a skinny tie (grey metalic skinny tie, £8 from Next) or a man bag (Detain Laptop bag, £150 from All Saints).
If you want to add some jewelry, stick to less is more, nothing glittering or gleaming, think more along the lines of rustic, for example the Black Cord Wrapped Bangle, £4 from Topman. It is best to avoid rings or necklaces as they could look too showy, though this Multirow Grunge Necklace £8 from Topman is a way of adding a creative style visual to your smart causal look.
You need to add a belt. Nothing studded, just something that is simple and classy. This belt, Impala Casual Washed Leather Belt, £35 from Ted Baker is a simple classic belt without the horrible gleam that announces to the world that it is brand spanking new. It looks authentic and well-worn.
An example outfit for the smart causal style is a leather jacket paired with jeans, a white t-shirt and clean, smart boots. Add in some subtle accessories of a worn leather bag and belt, a summer scarf and a few bracelets and you will have the look mastered. This outfit can be achieved without our inspiration (Jude Laws) budget.
Here at My Celebrity Fashion we love this leather jacket, McKay McKay Leather Shirt Jacket, £90 from All Saints. A leather jacket is a fashion must-have, though it does have quite a high price tag, it can be worn for years on end so is a key investment piece in any mans wardrobe.
For this oufit baggy skatter style jeans are not going to pull of the look. Jeans with rips are ok but you want to look like a designer did them and not simply destroyed by you and a good night out. For an alternative look try the Crafted Drop Crotch Ripped Jeans, £39.99 from Republic. Another option for this image is trousers, have a look at the Grey Pindot Slim Trousers, £28 from Topman as they are affordable, fashionable and appropriate for the smart casual trend.
Complete your look with a pair of leather boots like this beautiful pair from H by Hudson Angus Wash Tan Boot, £120 from Urban Outfitters or a pair of these H by Hudson Westland Comando Shoe, £135 from Urban Outfitters, both these boots will look better with age and will see you through the seasons leaving a fashionable footprint in their wake.
With this image it is ok to take time choosing your outfit but you wont pass this off if that comes across. You need to carefully balance your outfit. For example if you opt for ripped jeans wear a smarter jacket and shoes. If you choose to wear smart trousers a more casual T-shirt can be worn. Think well-worn, classically cool, thrown together and of course Jude Law. And youve got it!
