DJ and mum-of-four Jo Whiley hosted the first 'Persil Pass on the Love Picnic' at Camp Bestival on the weekend. Mums and kids were encouraged to hold a picnic and bring newly washed soft toys for another child to love - for fun family picnic ideas and more visit www.netmums.com/persilpassonthelove
Tell me about the Persil campaign you're involved with?
As a mum who has three young kids to entertain, I've got a summer of finding new and interesting things to do with them. I've teamed up with Persil 2in1 with Comfort on a great activity which encourages families to enjoy a fresh take on the traditional teddy bear's picnic. We're asking mums and dads to seek out old soft toys, give them a wash and new lease of life, and hold a 'Persil Pass on the Love Picnic' where kids can swap their old soft toys with others, or donate them to Oxfam for another child to love.
You always look so great – what's your secret?
As you get older you realise that if you don't slap on the creams and put in the time at the gym then age will take its toll sooner than you're ready for it. Doing a workout is just as good for my head as it is my body - it alleviates the stress of the day and gives me time to get some perspective.
How would you describe your personal style?
I guess my style is a cocktail of designer and high street. There are labels I love but when I look at the price tag they are way out of my league. Occasionally you get lent something fabulous and for one night you live the dream until midnight when you turn back into Cinders. Otherwise it's a matter of knowing what suits you and what doesn't and mixing up pricey bits with affordable bits!
We reckon your mobile must have a fair few celebs numbers in it – who are your most famous mates?
The Radio Royalty of Chris Moyles, Comedy Dave and Scott Mills!
Where’s your ideal spot for a summer getaway? Are you more of a beach lady, or do you like your city breaks or something really adventurous like safaris?
I like a little bit of each, I prefer activity holidays - especially with my kids. They love surfing in Cornwall, but apart from that they get bored on the beach so we'll invariably be on a boat water skiing or wake boarding. We all enjoy doing activities rather than lying around. I can't remember the last time I went away with my other half for a nice relaxing break!
